Archimedes Aerospace CEO, Agronomist, and Streams expert to Collaborate with UVM Service Learning Class
January 22, 2009 --Archimedes Aerospace LLC CEO John Hanning will join UVM Agronomist Sid Bosworth and Vermont Agency of Natural Resources stream geomorphology expert Mike Kline to collaborate with the UVM GEO 96B Service Learning Class during the Spring 2009 semester. The course, ‘Satellites & Airplanes: Examining the Earth’ is an ISEE and Service Learning course conducted by Leslie-Ann Dupigny-Giroux, PhD, who is both a tenured faculty member of the UVM Geography Department and the Vermont State Climatologist. Her research interests include drought, weather, and climate change as it affects Vermont’s landscape, particularly agriculture and hydrological systems.

Archimedes Aerospace CEO to teach Geographic Information Systems at UVM Rubenstein School
January 8, 2009--Archimedes Aerospace LLC CEO John Hanning has recently been appointed as a part-time lecturer at the University of Vermont’s Rubenstein School of Environment and Natural Resources. He will be temporarily replacing Professor Austin Troy, who is on sabbatical leave. The Spring 2009 semester appointment will run from January through May, 2009.

Archimedes Aerospace LLC takes delivery of first UAV
Archimedes Aerospace LLC, a geo-spatial services firm located in Montpelier, Vermont, received its first un-manned aerial vehicle [UAV] on November 28, 2008. The CropCam 1E agricultural UAV, serial number C4-01742, is the first of a planned fleet of 5 unmanned aircraft for the remote sensing startup. This UAV was developed by CropCam, of Stoney Mountain, Manitoba. CropCam is a division of MicroPilot, a Canadian firm which is the global industry leader in autopilot software for unmanned aerial systems [UAS].
